Abstrakt
Information-retrieval languages (IRL) has been a topic of information science research for many years, because of the latter concentration (either in theoretical or practical aspects) on information-retrieval systems (IRS). The article answers the questions concerning the future of information-retrieval languages. In particular it focuses on: (a) defining IRL, (b) IRL functioning in different types of IRS, (c) IRL dependence on users’ information needs, as well as possibilities of technical devices being used in information processing, (d) development of IRL theory.
