The bibliographic and abstract database ISIS-PW concerning coal mining industry and environmental engineering is being developed by the Science Library of the Central Mining Institute in Katowice (since 1977). The article presents this database, with particular attention put on its scope, types of documents registered, information searching, information-retrieval languages, and the 'Przeglad Dokumentacyjny' as a publication associated with this tool
